Trip to Nicaragua

There is actually a new law in CR that allows you to pay $100 per person to get an extension to your tourist visa. This law was enacted (no doubt) because the ticos realized that every 3 months their "resident tourists" are leaving their country for 3 days and spending their money somewhere else. Anyway, I thought rather than spend that money for a stamp, why not go somewhere fun instead? So here we are in Nicaragua! Driving in CR is quite an experience. Here are some interesting facts.

  1. Road Damage – If a road becomes damaged as in the photo at left, it may or may not be fixed. When this road collapsed, an alternate route was selected that goes over a dirt road and simply bypasses the problem area. When half of a road collapses, it is common for the government to put up a yield sign and simply turn that section into a one way road. Continue reading Driving
