Arribada
There is a very unique occurrence here in Costa Rica. Locally it is known as an “arribada” which means “arrival.” In this case it is used when turtles come on the beach by the thousands to lay their eggs. These particular turtles are called Olive Ridley sea turtles. There are only a couple of places in the world where this occurs.
Christmas on Halloween
Our custom made furniture arrived last night. We had a dinning room table for 8, one queen bed, a set of bunk beds, and a TV stand made for us from a furniture maker in Sarchi. It cost a little $2,000 for everything. Continue reading Christmas on Halloween
A day at the beach
Our first fun activity
The Roberts have a membership at a private resort called Punta Leona. They invited us to tag along for a day at the beach. We haven’t really done anything fun since coming here, so we decided to take a day off and head to the beach. The drive from Puriscal takes about 1 1/2 hours. It really isn’t that far, just a few miles, but all the roads in CR are very small and windy. Continue reading A day at the beach
