Our custom made furniture arrived last night. We had a dinning room table for 8, one queen bed, a set of bunk beds, and a TV stand made for us from a furniture maker in Sarchi. It cost a little $2,000 for everything.
To make things even better, our stuff that we had shipped from the US also arrived today! It’s amazing how the simplest little thing can bring so much joy. I cannot express how thrilled I was to see brown gravy mix again! In addition to the gravy, we now have pots, pans, microwave, dishes, many spices so Karen can create culinary wonders, television, wii and our desktop computer (no more sharing my laptop with the kids). We also purchased and had delivered an oven and a refrigerator. This should complete all our appliance needs.
The phone will a take a while to get hooked up. With the phone will also come high speed internet. Until it is connected, I will continue to use the connection at the old house. Cable should also be installed some time soon. I hear the quality of the picture is not the great, but the price is right. They only have one plan and it costs 12,000 colones (about $20) per month.
