The Lawsons came to visit us for 10 days starting on March 26th, and ending on April 5th. It was really good to see them and spend some time showing them around the country. They also brought us some American candy and other supplies that are hard to come by here, which was much appreciated. Continue reading Lawsons’ Visit

Where does the time go?
I can't believe how fast time is rushing by. In one day we will have been here for 5 months! That is almost half way through the year. We have pretty much come to the conclusion that when the year is up we will in fact be heading home. I'm sure grandma will be happy to here that. Anyway, I really need to be more consistent about writing. Continue reading Where does the time go?
January Baptisms
We had two convert baptisms today. The last baptisms we had in the branch were in September. I've debated for a while whether or not I wanted to post any information about baptisms that occur here in the branch. Missionary work is a big part of our lives here in Costa Rica, and we are trying to grow the branch into a ward. I have also been called to be the ward mission leader, which baptisms that much more important to us. However, since baptism is such a sacred covenant, I hesitate to even mention them here. Therefore, I have decided to post when they occur and just a little bit about them without mentioning any specific information about the converts. Continue reading January Baptisms
Primary Program
We had the yearly primary program today. You know, the one where every child in the primary has a few lines to say and they all take turns reading or saying them. In between the little talks there is always lots of singing. Well, it's pretty much the same here as it is in the US. Continue reading Primary Program
Thankfulness
We just got back from celebrating Thanksgiving with the other gringo members of the church in Puriscal. It was wonderful; the food, the company, the food! The only thing lacking was three of my children. As I think about it, this may be the first time celebrating Thanksgiving without all of our children with us. I suppose that is inevitable as children grow. However, this time it is my fault. Anyway, since it is Thanksgiving, I'd like to make a short list of the things I'm thankful for:
- Family
- Atonement
- Health
- Beauty all around
Have a happy Thanksgiving!
A Year in Costa Rica
Sunday July 5th, out of the blue, the thought occurred to me that we should move to Costa Rica. I mentioned this to Karen, and to my surprise she did not freak out! Since then we have done a lot of praying, and a lot of researching. We took a quick trip to CR at the end of July, prior to me getting laid off from Intuit on August 3rd.
