A Year in Costa Rica

Sunday July 5th, out of the blue, the thought occurred to me that we should move to Costa Rica. I mentioned this to Karen, and to my surprise she did not freak out! Since then we have done a lot of praying, and a lot of researching. We took a quick trip to CR at the end of July, prior to me getting laid off from Intuit on August 3rd.
Since we made the decision to move, so many amazing things have happened to us to allow this to become a reality. We do not fully understand why it is we are impressed to move to Costa Rica, but we are sure that part of it involves working with and helping the local church in CR.
We are now less than 48 hours away from making the move! We have rented our house, sold a large portion of our worldly goods (including our trailer, furniture, and car), and we have said goodbye to our friends and family. Hannah and James have had their wisdom teeth out. Kids and parents have been to the eye doctor. Medications have been ordered from mail order pharmacies. In short, it has been a very busy couple of months.
We are planning to move to a small community in the mountains of CR known as Puriscal. I figure we can live for approximately 1 year even if I don’t find any way to earn a living. Therefore, that is our target, one year. After that we will asses what to do and make plans accordingly.
My intention is to make new postings here periodically as the year unfolds. This “adventure” as everyone is fond of calling it, promises to be a learning and growing experience for all of us. I have faith that the Lord will help and guide us along the way.
