January Baptisms

We had two convert baptisms today. The last baptisms we had in the branch were in September. I've debated for a while whether or not I wanted to post any information about baptisms that occur here in the branch. Missionary work is a big part of our lives here in Costa Rica, and we are trying to grow the branch into a ward. I have also been called to be the ward mission leader, which baptisms that much more important to us. However, since baptism is such a sacred covenant, I hesitate to even mention them here. Therefore, I have decided to post when they occur and just a little bit about them without mentioning any specific information about the converts.

Since we don't have a regular ward building here, we also do not have a baptismal font. In the past, the baptisms have been performed in the branch president's pool. However, he has had a lot of trouble with the pump and filtering system. His pump is currently broken and therefore the water in his pool is quite dirty and not usable. We were lucky to find a place here in town that has a pool and was willing to allow us to use it for the baptism. The only other option was to drive the 30 to 40 minutes down to Ciudad Colon where they do have a baptismal font. It is much easier to transport people around town than to haul them all the way down to Colon.

Anyway, the baptisms went quite well. There were some ominous rain clouds that threatened to disrupt the ceremony. Lucky, the rain was held at bay until nearly the end of the ceremony, when it began to rain lightly. Shortly after the end, it rained quite hard.
