Bird Feeder

On our recent trip to Arenal we stopped at a butterfly farm/nature reserve. They had a stand where they put bananas and papayas to attract the birds. That gave me the idea to do the same thing at home, thinking that we might attract some really exotic birds to our home. So I took some scrap wood left over from my neighbor's construction and built my own. I then began placing one banana at a time on the stand. The first couple of days nothing much happened. Then I began seeing the Yigüirro (national bird of CR) visiting the stand more and more. However, the Yigüirro is not that exciting. It is really just a brown robin. Also, several times I noticed that the bananas would simply disappear. I mean one minute the banana was there and the next it was completely gone! I looked around on the ground and there was nothing there. My neighbor thinks that a squirrel is carrying the bananas away, but I'm not yet convinced. Anyway, today when I was getting ready to go pick up the missionaries, I saw this impressive guy!
