Missionaries

As ward mission leader we get to spend a lot of time with the missionaries. So I created this page to share who the missionaries are that we get to work with.

When we first arrived in Puriscal in September there weren’t any missionaries here. For some reason the previous missionaries had both been transferred out at the same time. However, only a week after we got here, Elder Curtis and Elder Torres came to help us out. Elder Curtis had been in the mission for more than a year, and Elder Torres came to us directly from his home country of Ecuador. Elder Curtis is from Utah. After about three months, Elder Curtis was transferred to become a zone leader. It happened while we were in Florida for our “visa run,” so we didn’t even get to say goodbye.

Elder Curtis was replaced by Elder Flores from El Salvador. I must admit I was a bit saddened to see Elder Curtis go, because now I would not be able to speak to the missionaries in English and have them explain things to me when I didn’t understand what was going on. None the less Elder Flores has been a great blessing to us and has been working very hard. He has been out in the mission field for over a year.

In April, after 7 months, Elder Torres was finally transferred out. It was very sad for him being his first area and being here for so long. The night before he left, I drove him around so he could say goodbye to everyone. With the leaving of Elder Torres comes the transfer of Elder Zuniga of Honduras. Elder Zuniga has only been in the mission field for two months. He seems to be a little more serious than Elder Flores, which will probably do him some good. We just got word that Elder Zuniga will be transferred tomorrow after only being here for one short month.

After a very short stay, Elder Zuniga was transferred out and replaced by Elder Marsh from Houston Texas. As you can see by the picture, they get along pretty well. However, it seems it was time for Elder Flores to experience another area.

Next to join us here in Puriscal was Elder Ampuero. Elder Ampuero comes to us from Ecuador. He actually came out at the same time as Elder Torres, so he has been in the mission the same amount of time we’ve been in the country. He has already had 5 companions all of whom have been North Americans, so he speaks English really well.
