About

We decided to do something different this year. I had lost my job and things didn’t seem to be working out. One evening I had a crazy idea to move to Costa Rica. To my surprise, Karen did not reject the idea immediately. So, after a lot of praying and worrying, we moved to Costa Rica. The entire process was very fast. The initial idea occured on July 5th 2009 (Sunday evening). We moved out of house on September 4th so the new renters could have Saturday to move their things in. We flew out of the country a week later on Saturday, September 12th.

The two months in between were a whirlwind of activity! We sold practically everything. We kept the house, so we'd have somewhere to come back to. We also kept the beds, the dinning room furniture, and the sectional couch. I couldn't bring myself to sell my woodworking tools, so we kept them. Other than that, everything was put up for sale. I didn't know how I was going to support the family, but we calculated that even if I didn't have any income, we could probably squeak by for a year.

I’ve created this web blog so the family can post what is going on with this grand adventure.
